The George is the oldest pub in the village and can trace its history back to 1616 although original building dates back another century. It is a friendly multi-roomed pub with a real fire, dark wood interior, Tiffany lamps and historical photographs of the village adorn the walls. A function room is available upstairs. The pub serves as an outlet for the nearby Stowey Brewery and there is occasional live music and discos. No food served but you are welcome to bring your own or the post office/cafe across the road will deliver. Happy hours Mon - Fri 12-5 Bus service free but infrequent.
