Sunday 17 th January 2021 was the wassail day so as tradition dictates we saluted the apple trees, sang them a song and chased the bad spirits out by making a racket at Burrow Hill Cider Farm.

It also occurred in Carhampton in West Somerset organised by the Butchers Arms (see Cider News page for full details).

Traditionally, the wassail is celebrated on Twelfth Night (variously on either January 5 or 6). Some people still wassail on "Old Twelvey Night", January 17, as it would have been before the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar in 1752.

Hopefully in return the orchard will provide us with plentiful blossom that you are all invited to come and visit.
